Threats to Survival

  • Habitat loss (from Andriaholinirina et al. 2014)

      • Driven primarily by charcoal production and slash-and-burn agriculture
      • Also impacted by ilmenite mining
  • Hunted and trapped by humans (from Andriaholinirina et al. 2014)
    • Unsustainable levels of hunting
      • Primarily caught in traps
    • Captured for the local pet trade
