TNC BioOne Overview: Home

This guide provides TNC researchers with information on the BioOne platform specific to TNC's subscription. It also helps users learn about platform features and functionality, and determine whether BioOne can aid in their research.

Vendor Summary

Founded in 1999 as a collaboration between libraries and publishers, BioOne has a mission to increase access to critical scientific research. Since then, it has continued to forge new partnerships to expand high-quality and cost-effective offerings to its community, cementing its place as the leading research aggregator in the biological, ecological, and environmental sciences: 

  • 150 publishing partners including nonprofit societies, museums, associations, and independent presses 
  • Network of more than 1,000 subscribing libraries and 40 library consortia internationally 

The TNC E-Collection provides users with access to BioOne Complete, the ESA E-Book Collection, and the CSIRO Publishing BioSelect Collection. For more, see below for general information on BioOne's platform and go to the "Subscriptions" tab for subscription details.  

Subscription Access

Connect to TNC's VPN and then select the link here to search for e-resources through BioOne. If VPN access is unavailable, please go to the "Journal Access" page on Connect for alternative login instructions. 

Research Tools

BioOne's platform includes numerous features that enable efficient research:

  • Create a personal account to customize your BioOne experience

  • Save advanced search queries for future use

  • Save full-text PDFs to personal BioOne library  

  • Download article citations in numerous formats 

  • Easily translate content with embedded Google Translate tool

  • Use in-record links to view other materials by the same author as well as author affiliations

  • Receive alerts for specific resources and newly published materials that match saved search criteria 

  • Use tabular navigation to view supplemental information, references, and cross-reference citations separately from main resource content
